The finest Scottish ingredients…

Here at The Milk Barn, we take pride in using quality Scottish produce and showcasing some of the best local and Scottish food producers in the food we prepare. Scotland’s food and drink comes from unspoilt habitats and varied weather, which is perfect for producing a wide variety of high-quality fresh fruit and vegetables, fish, meat and much more.

Below is a summary of the provenance of the produce used in our menus, where possible and in season.

Ice Cream

Our sister business, Glen Farm, provides all the milk used in creating our signature product – our delicious ice cream. The milk comes from the very cows you can see in the fields outside the windows of our cafe – you can’t get much fresher than that.

Meat

The Sausage, bacon, black pudding and Haggis served on our menu come from Patrick’s of Camelon. The award-winning sausages are made on their premises to Patrick’s very own top-secret recipe.

Fish

Our Craigellachie Scottish Smoked Salmon is from the River Spey in the northeast of Scotland.

Rolls and Bread

Our rolls and bread are freshly baked every morning locally.

Fruit and Vegetables

Supplied by William Wilson & Sons, a wholesale fruit and vegetable merchant based locally in Polmont.

All our Ice cream fruit is sourced in Scotland depending on the time of year.

Dairy, Butter and Eggs

The Milk, butter and eggs used in our delicious lunches and home baking are supplied by Grahams Dairy, Bridge of Allan. The eggs are sourced from Broxburn Browns in Broxburn near Edinburgh.

The Grahams have been dairy farming for over 70 years and are an award-winning supplier of Scottish Milk.

Cakes and Scones

Our delicious cakes and scones are homemade on the premises, as are a selection of traybakes and cakes. Our Jam is homemade using Scottish fruit whenever possible.

Drinks

Our popular milkshakes are created using homemade ice cream made on the premises from the milk produced by our own herd of cows.

We are also stockists of Highland Spring water, which is drawn from the Ochil Hills in Perthshire.

Also on our menu, we use Lockerbie Scottish Cheese and McGhees Potato scones from Glasgow.

The Milk Barn supports Scottish food producers year round. If you require any further details please contact us or ask at The Milk Barn when you visit.
